Medical clinic billing

The Health Service is available to students of Vassar College regardless of their insurance.

Visits

There are no charges for visits to the medical clinic (this is covered under the mandatory health fee paid with your tuition).

Over-the-counter medications and supplies

The charge will be put onto your student account.

Prescription medications

The Health Service carries commonly used medications. It does not operate as a pharmacy but as a dispensary.

If you have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • You may obtain a prescription to fill at a local pharmacy. You will then pay a copay at the pharmacy. (Please see insurance information for specific limits on yearly maximum.) If the medication is available at the Health Service you may obtain it there and the amount (comparable to a copay) will be charged to your student account.

If you do not have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • You may request a written prescription which you can have filled at a local pharmacy.
  • If we carry the medication at the health service – you may get the medication and the charge will be put onto your student account. You may request an itemized bill to submit to your insurance company.

Lab work

We utilize Quest Diagnostics for laboratory services.

If you have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • The Health Service will submit billing to the insurance company.

If you do not have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • You will receive a bill directly from Quest Diagnostics – you may then either submit the bill to your insurance company or call Quest Diagnostics with your insurance information.

Testing / Allergy Shots

If you have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • The charge will be put onto your student account. These low cost procedures are not covered by the student health insurance.

If you do not have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • The charge will be put onto your student account. You may request an itemized bill to submit to your insurance company.

Immunizations

If you have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • The charge will be put onto your student account. Certain immunizations are now covered.  The Health Service has a list of these.  You may request a copy of an itemized bill to submit to your insurance.

If you do not have the student health insurance offered through the college:

  • The charge will be put onto your student account. You may request an itemized bill to submit to your insurance company.
